Biology 430 - Molecular Biology of the Gene

This course is an upper level biology elective designed for those students interested in learning more about the function of the genetic material.  It is an examination of the principles and techniques used in the molecular study of genes.  It will cover the history of molecular biology, the chemical structure and function of molecules,  the organization and maintenance of the genetic material, the expression of the genetic material, the regulation of expression, and the techniques used in molecular biology.

Prerequisite: Biology 431 - General Genetics
